There are no specific educational or experiential requirements for taking the CPEHR, CPHIE or CPHIT certification examinations. It is recommended that individuals either have healthcare experience with plans to participate in electronic health record (EHR), health information exchange (HIE) and/or health information technology (HIT) acquisition, use, and operations; or have information system experience with the intent of assisting healthcare organizations acquire and deploy an EHR, HIE, or HIT.
